The New York State tournament was started in 1977 and the first winner was Elmont. Garden City won in 1986 when the tournament split into Class A and Class B tournaments and Elmont (B) won again in 1987.
Garden City has won a total of seven NYS Championships. Section VI teams have won a total of twenty five championships. See the list of winners here.
The Nassau County Coaching Staff of the Year Award is given annually to an outstanding coaching staff in Nassau County as voted by the NCLCA. The award was originally named after Fran McCall, the longtime coach at Bethpage High School. McCall won 310 games and his 1983 squad advanced to the Nassau County Championship game. STORY CONTINUES
