Tuesday: Port Stops Massapequa; Roslyn, Mepham, and Division Earn Overtime Victories
Port Washington 12, Massapequa 9: Luke Meyer (5g-1a) led Port Washington (8-4) to a Conference A victory over Massapequa. John McCarthy added three goals for the Vikings, and Alex Papagalis (8 of 13) and Jesse Schiff (6 of 9) combined to win 14 of 22 faceoffs. The Chiefs (6-7) were led by Patrick Radomski with three goals and Michael Durnin with two goals and two assists. [ BOX SCORE]
Baldwin 14, Valley Stream 4: Brady Mahler scored seven goals and added three assists for Baldwin (8-3) in a Conference A victory over Valley Stream (3-10). Eighth-grade attackman Brian Medley scored four times and had two assists for the Bruins. Landon Somerville made 11 saves for Valley Stream. [ BOX SCORE]
Freeport 14, Uniondale 3: Matthew Drayton scored four goals and added three assists to lead Freeport (9-4) over Uniondale (0-13) in Conference A. Jordan Richardson scored twice and added three assists for the Red Devils. Kalam Howlett had a goal and an assist for the Knights. [ BOX SCORE]
Calhoun 19, MacArthur 7: Jayden Finkelstein led all scorers with five goals and two assists and Jake Lewis had a goal and four assists for Calhoun (10-2) in Conference B. Defenseman Peter Thomann scored twice for the Colts, who had ten players with at least one point in the game. [ BOX SCORE]
Roslyn 9, Long Beach 8 OT: Max Smith won a ground ball from a scrum in the defensive zone and raced the length of the field to score on a give and go pass from Josh Berger to tie the score at 8 for Roslyn (9-3) with .4 seconds remaining in the game. Spencer Cymbler then finished off the comeback by scoring the overtime winner. Alex Gatto had four goals and two assists, Mason Wagman won 16 of 18 faceoffs, and goalie Jacob Goldberg made 15 saves in the Bulldogs victory. Hicksville 15, Hempstead 5: James Kelly led Hicksville (4-7) with four goals and four assists in Conference A. Both Brendan Dalton and Jesse Brentrewicz had three goals and two assists for the Comets. Ja'Mir Andrews scored three goals and added an assist and Adrian Beltre made 16 saves for Hempstead (4-7). Elmont 11, Sewanhaka 4: Justus Nathaniel scored five goals to lead Elmont (4-8) in Conference B over Sewanhaka (0-13). Michel Aaron tallied four assists for the Spartans. Freshman AJ Ayau scored two goals and added an assist for the Indians. [ BOX SCORE]
Friends Academy 14, West Hempstead 2: Friends Academy improves to 7-4 with the Conference C/D victory. Dan Clark made 20 saves for West Hempstead (3-8). [ BOX SCORE]
Jericho 15, East Meadow 7: Josh Rubin's five goals and four assists powered Jericho (5-7) to a non-league win over East Meadow (1-9). Hudson (2g-5a) and Jackson Gingold (4g-1a) totaled 12 points for the victors. Jericho junior goalie Brandon Klein made ten saves, including his 300th save of his career in the win. Mepham 13, New Hyde Park 12, OT: Alessandro Walaitis scored the game winner off a feed from Owen Heller 10 seconds into the first overtime for Mepham (5-7). Walaitis had four goals and Heller had two goals and four assists for Mepham. Anthony DiSalvo won 18 of 26 faceoffs for the winners. Aidan Garvey had five points (2g-3a) and Cody McLean scored four goals for New Hyde Park (6-7). [ BOX SCORE]
Division 10, Great Neck North 9, OT: Chris Gordon scored the game-winner in overtime on an assist from Will Darvid for Division (5-7) in Conference B. Dylan O'Connor had tied the score at 9 with one second remaining in the game on an assists from Jake Larocca for the Blue Dragons.
