Class A Semifinal: Massapequa 9, Syosset 7

Massapequa advanced to the Nassau Class A championship game for the second straight year with a hard-fought 9-7 victory Syosset. Top seeded Massapequa (14-4) will play the winner of Farmingdale and Port Washington on Saturday, May 31st at Hofstra. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 pm. The Chiefs defeated the Braves for the fifth consecutive time over the past three seasons and lead the all-time series 46-15.

Sophomore attackman Nolan Wieczorek led all scorers with two goals and three assists for the Chiefs.  Sophomore Sean Durnin scored only one goal, but the man-up tally at the end of the first half gave Massapequa a 5-4 halftime lead it would never relinquish. Senior goaltender Michael Jannotte made 11 stops to lead a Massapequa defense that held #4 Syosset (9-9) one goal in the pivotal third quarter that saw the Chiefs lead expand to 9-5. Juniors Tyler Byrnes (1g-2a) and Braden Tucker (2g-1a) each contributed three points to the Massapequa attack.

The Chiefs have defeated Syosset five games in a row over the past three seasons and lead the all-time series 46-15.
