Class B Semifinal: Garden City 12, Calhoun 6
Junior attackman Charlie Koester scored five goals and added two assists for Garden City. His first two goals, both unassisted, gave the Trojans a 3-1 first quarter advantage. He assisted on Merit Ruckh's fast break goal off a caused turnover by sophomore defenseman Gus Galli that made the score 4-1 at the 9:59 mark of the second quarter. The teams traded goals the rest of the quarter that made the score 6-3 at halftime.
Koester scored a fast break goal off a pass from LSM Blake Cascadden at the 9:32 mark of the third quarter but Calhoun goals by seniors Braden Garvey and Harley Finkelstein made the score 7-5. But Koester scored two more goals, one in transition off a pass from senior defender Declan Wuchte, to extend the Garden City lead. When Michael Berkery took a pass from Dan Medjid and scored from the righty wing in a man-up situation the Garden City lead was 10-5 with 2:00 minutes left in the third.
Early in the fourth the teams traded goals to make the score 11-6 and James DeBusschere closed out the scoring for Garden City off a loose ball to make the final score 12-6.
Luke Cascadden won 15 of 21 faceoffs and sophomore Henry Koester added two scores for the Trojans, who have won seven games in a row. Finkelstein and sophomore Brandon McCabe each scored two goals for Calhoun.
