Nassau Wins 3 of 4 Long Island Championship Games!

Nassau claimed victory in three of the four Long Island Championship games played today. Garden City (Class B), Wantagh (C), and Cold Spring Harbor (D) defeated their Suffolk opponents and advanced in the New York State boys lacrosse tournament. Massapequa (A) lost a close game to Half Hallow Hills, who scored in the final seconds for the victory. Nassau has now won 12 of the 16 Long Island Championship games played this decade and leads the all-time series 68-57.

Cold Spring Harbor 16, Center Moriches 8
The Seahawks (13-6) won their fourth consecutive Long Island Class D championship thanks to six goals from senior attackman Roger Testa and four assists from senior midfielder Alex Bauer. CSH advanced to play Bronxville (Section I) on Saturday at Yorktown High School in the NYS Class D Regionals. Center Moriches finished the season 9-9.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Wantagh 16, Kings Park 15
Wantagh won its first Long Island championship since 2001 with a exciting 16-15 victory over Kings Park (16-3).  The 31 goals scored between the two teams tied the Long Island championship game record set in 1987 when Elmont outscored Harborfields 20-11. Junior midfielder Carter Loughman and junior attackman Devin Paccione each scored four goals for the Warriors and Loughman added an assist. Jack Salva led the Kingsmen (16-3) with six goals and an assist. Wantagh advanced to play Somers in the NYS Class C Regionals on Saturday at Yorktown High School.   [ BOX SCORE] 

Half Hallow Hills 15, Massapequa 14
Massapequa battled the top ranked public school in NYS for four quarters before falling in the final seconds 15-14. Luke Bradley (four goals, three assists) scored the game-winner for Half Hallow Hills (20-0) with 9.7 seconds left to give Hills their first Long Island championship in school history. Junior attackman Tyler Byrnes scored four times and added an assist for the Chiefs. Michael Jannotte (17 saves) had a strong game in goal for Massapequa who finished the season 15-5.  [ BOX SCORE]

Garden City 15, East Islip 11
The Trojans won their 20th Long Island championship (the most of any school on LI) by outscoring East Islip 4-0 in the fourth quarter. With the score tied at 11, Anthony Asaro, Ben Smith, James DeBuschere, and Chase Kraus scored for Garden City to secure the Class B title. Sophomore midfielder Asaro finished with three goals and two assists and junior attackman Charlie Koester led Garden City with four goals and an assist and Luke Cascadden won 22 of 29 faceoffs and added an assist. The Trojans advance to play Horace Greeley (Section I) in the NYS Class B Regionals at Yorktown High School on Saturday. East Islip finished the season at 15-4.  [ BOX SCORE]
