Historical Notes: Justin Guterding scored four goals with assists on each from Devin Dwyer, who had a goal and seven assists, as Garden City defeated Yorktown (Section I) in the NYS Class B semifinals last night at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium. The Trojans scored seven goals in the second quarter with a pair of three-goal spurts. Dwyer found Guterding twice in a span of six seconds and Mark Ellis scored 16 seconds later to cap a 6-0 Garden City run that made it 6-1 with 7:08 to go in the second. Dwyer's lone goal started the second three-goal burst, capped when defender Ed Blatz scored to make it 10-3 with under a minute to go in the first half. The run continued into the second half as Patric Berkery scored two goals in a 3-0 third quarter and Cody George made it 14-3 with 9:21 to go in the fourth. Freshman midfielder James Sullivan won 13 of 16 faceoffs for the Trojans.
