Massapequa Downs Port Washington; Plainedge Rallies Past Bethpage

Massapequa 9, Port Washington 7
The Chiefs ended Port Washington's six game win-streak with a 9-7 home victory in League 1 action. The Vikings (9-2) led 6-4 at halftime, but the Massapequa defense held the Vikings to one second half goal. Chiefs goaltender Michael Jannotte made 16 saves, Tyler Byrnes had two goals and two assists, and Rocco Spallina scored three times. Massapequa is now 7-3 overall and 4-2 in League 1.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Plainedge 11, Bethpage 9
Trailing 9-5 entering the fourth quarter, Plainedge scored six consecutive goals to defeat Bethpage, 11-9. The Red Devils had a balanced scoring effort, with Brady Kelley, Owen Donnellan, Dom Agovino, and Nick Coscino each contributing two goals and an assist. Christian DeJuana made 14 saves for Plainedge who improved to 6-4, 3-3 in League 1. The victory was Plainedge's 7th win over Bethpage, who now lead the all-time series 26-7. Bethpage's Andrew Reinhardt led all scorers with two goals and three assists and Anthony Guarasci. added three goals and an assist. The Golden Eagles are 3-6 overall, 1-4 in League 1.  [ BOX SCORE]

Dylan Martini (4g-2a) and Joe Nicholson (4g-1a) led the scoring effort for Wantagh...Brian Falk had a goal and three assists for Seaford...Chris Obertis (4g-1a), Jayden Radow (2g-3a), and Mike Verderosa (4g-0a) had strong offensive games for Carey...Luke Mullen scored three times for Cold Spring Harbor...Brody Waxer had four goals and three assists for Syosset and teammate Giovanni Accardo had two goals and two assists...Mason Santos had four goals and two assists for Freeport...Joe Filocamo had six points (3g, 3a) for Island Trees.

Gianni Passaro had 12 saves and only allowed one goal for Wantagh...Rich Metzger made 11 stops for Carey...Anthony Goris-Beltre made 21 saves for Roosevelt...Jake Ilardo had 14 saves for Plainview. He leads Nassau with 151 saves.

Faceoff Stars
Ethan Goldberg won 13 of 19 faceoffs for Roslyn. He leads Nassau with 162 wins this season...Aidan Cleary won 13 of 19 draws for Syosset...Enrique Mendoza-Pineyro won 16 of 17 for Freeport.

News and Notes
Wantagh and Seaford have played 75 times since 1961, with Wantagh leading the all-time series 49-26...Carey goaltender Rich Metzger is closing in on 600 career saves. He now sits at 591 stops over four years...Cold Spring Harbor leads the all-time series with South Side 21-7...With the win last night, Syosset leads the all-time series with Oceanside 27-26, and has won 17 of the last 19 games...Freeport improved to 7-2, the best start for the Red Devils in the last 20 years...It was the first win for Island Trees over Plainview JFK in school history.
