Close Games On The First Day Of The 2026 Season!

On the first day of the 2026 season there were three close games: one was a two-goal affair, one was by one goal and the other was an two-overtime nair-biter!

Wheatley/Carle Place 8, Glen Cove 7
Senior Aidan Butt had three goals and two assists to lead WCP past visiting Glen Cove in overtime, 8-7. Jack Ryan added 3 goals and one assist for the Wildfrogs (1-0), while Luciano Blanco had two goals and an assist and Jax Giordano added a goal and two assists for Glen Cove (0-1). Wheatley-Carle Place 8, Glen Cove 7

Friends Academy 9, Portledge 8, OT.
Luca Kraska scored his second goal in the second overtime to lead Friends Academy (1-0) past Portledge in non-conference play. Freshman defender Rehaan Madhok had an assist and five caused turnovers for the Quakers. Nate Bahnik scored five goals for Portledge (0-1). Friends Academy 9, Portledge 8 2OT

Sewanhaka 10, Hempstead 8.
Sewanhaka outscored host Hempstead 7-5 in the second half en-route to a 10-8 non-conference victory. Mahmood Kamal scored five goals and added two assists and Jaward Kamal had three goals and three assists for the Ravens (1-0). Nelson Alvarez scored three times for the Tigers (0-1). Sewanhaka 10, Hempstead 8
